Know the Logistics of Your 1st Payment

So, when is your first student loan repayment due? And how much is it going to be? And how do you actually make that payment?  You should be able to get this information during your exit interview, but you can also get it through servicer.  Much of the information will then be at your fingertips whenever you log on to your account with them.

How much your payment is going to be is set by your final loan volume and your repayment plan, adjusted by any reductions for which you qualify, have applied, and have been granted.  Your servicer should have this information, but the Department of Education also has a calculator you can check to verify that amount.

How you are required to make your first payment is going to depend on your specific servicer, so check directly with them.
